In addition to its natural beauty, Ausseerland plays host to countless events and customs that are very important to locals throughout the year. Traditions and customs are beloved and kept alive by everyone here, young and old.
Austria’s largest flower festival, the Narcissus Festival, is held every year in late May. In summer you can attend Summer Nights in the Bad Aussee town centre, plus a number of regular concerts are held by many different musical groups. The Altaussee Kiritag beer tent is set up in early September, offering the region’s largest beer tent. Experience Aussee’s lovely winter tradition of Krampuslauf events in late November to mix things up with your otherwise contemplative evenings. During the fifth season, as Aussee’s carnival (Fasching) season is sometimes called, Ausseerland briefly goes wild. Come and enjoy the imaginative parades and get to know figures like Trommelweiber. Frinserl and Pless.
